About First Novel

My current work was inspired by a conversation with my pastor’s 17-year-old daughter about what
Christian teens like to read. Her words were like an exposé on the unimaginable and real lives of
Christian teens. This conversation stirred my heart, and my will to write about what I learned.
In Closer Than Ever, a17 year old girl who faces taking care of her grandmother’s medical
emergency alone and arouses fear for the first time in her life. This all started while she was
wrapped up with her own problems with her boyfriend, who wants them to become intimate. Part of
her wants to maintain her purity, because it’s what she used to want, but she had to figure out if her
faith was real. She felt like God wanted her to pay very close attention to what was happening to her!
